Parent's PageSo2gether.com ("so2") is committed to providing a fun and safe environment for all its members. As such, everyone involved in the creation of this social media website has worked really hard to develop a community with engaging activities that is both fun and safe for its users. We have also established a set of Community Safety Rules, installed filters to help flag safety issues, provided precautions, and hopefully encouraged you and your child to be more informed about Internet Safety both on this site and in general! About UsWe are Bill and Linda Gurvitch, founders of so2gether.com. With strong backgrounds in the publishing industry, and a 'tween daughter, we took a chance in 1994 and started Fine Print Publishing Company to produce original and unique lock-and-key diaries, journals, quiz books, friendship books, and more for girls between the ages of 8 and 18. As parents ourselves, we know that safety and security concerns are everywhere in our children's lives and the Internet is certainly no exception. Therefore, we encourage you to
About so2getherSo2gether.com started as a desire to create a "cool" place online for 'tween and teen girls to express themselves, to connect with real life friends, to make new online friends, and to have a closetful of clothes and accessories that they may or may not actually have in real life. Our interactive books, like our Coke or Pepsi? series, allows girls to express themselves and get to know their friends using our traditional printed books. We wanted to take that same basic idea and give our fans a way to show off their personalities and have some fun in a safe, online format. The concept of so2gether's social community actually began years ago when the popularity of MySpace and Facebook began to hit the masses. We knew that our fans would be drawn to community websites like those that are intended for adults but worried about our fans' ability to traverse the new media safely. We interviewed and selected a web design firm to help develop the concept into a real working site and decided that the best possible way to safeguard personally identifiable information was to not require our fans to provide it at all! Yet, given our own concerns about safety, knowing from our personal experience with our own daughters that parental involvement is a huge factor, we decided whether it is legally required or not, to request a parent or guardian email address during the account activation process. You'll find information about what kinds of information we collect, how we collect it, what we do with it, and how it's disclosed in our Privacy Policy. How so2 WorksOnce an account is activated, users are given a profile page (or a "room") where they are able to:
So2gether members are also able to earn virtual bottle caps which can be used to "purchase" additional clothes and accessories from the Rewards Shop tab right inside their closets. Bottle caps are earned for logging in, creating quizzes, taking quizzes, and other various activities around the website and are displayed next to the users so2 image in the left sidebar. New items and accessories will continually be placed in the Rewards Shop over time (at our discretion or perhaps by advertisers willing to create fashions for the community) including items such as new tops, bottoms, shoes, hats, sunglasses, jewelry, handbags and personal accessories such as mp3 players, cell phones, etc. Keeping the fashions fresh will allow for a new experience every time a user logs in to visit! So2 Safety PrecautionsFor safety reasons, rooms (user profile pages) are not visible to the public at large. Users must be an active so2 member, signed in to the so2 site, to view any of the profile pages at all and must be a mutual friend to view the passing notes section on any profile page. Filters and human monitors are also set up on the administration end of the site to help guard against inappropriate behavior or content. We have instituted a strict set of community rules and will not tolerate violations. Offensive content can result in account termination. Our "Blow the Whistle" feature allows users to help patrol the content for safety violations as well. Being a responsible citizen of the so2community is encouraged and rewarded!
